Hello I started the Optifast today and i am on travel to PA. I am having alot of trouble being away from my home and people asking me to go out to dinner and lunch. I just dont feel like the calories are enough for someone my size and my head is killing me. Has there been anyone who has not done the Optifast before surgery? Does it get better?

Hello there..
I went thru that when I was on Optifast. I went on travel to North Carolina to a town surviving on bar b que. the first week is definately the roughest.. in between ur so called "meals" eat sugar free jello or pudding (not alot but one!) and drink lots of water/crystal light. and sugar free popcicles too.. they helped me thru it. by the 2nd week ur stomach has shrunk some and u will find urself almost forcing to get all the shakes in. its worth it i lost 22 pounds in those 2 weeks which helped alot at surgery time.. plus it conditions u to eat less.
good luck!!

Did you feel like you were going to pass out? Thanks for your reply. Did you follow it to a T. I was wondering what would happen if I ate one meal out? Which surgery did you have?

yes in my first few days i felt like someone had cut my throat and that i hadnt been able to eat in years let alone days.. but once i found out i could eat the pudding it helped. i did cheat one day on my second week but it wasnt as fun as i thought it would be, i ended up eating small portions and felt horrible afterwards. stomach wise and concience wise. but other then that i did follow it. once u get past ill say day 5 u should be good to go. key is to keep drinking fluids. if u eat one meal out this early into it u might have a negative effect cuz u may still want to eat more. by the time i decided to "cheat" my stomach had already shrunk and fooled me thinking i was going to eat a big ole meal one last time before surgery..
I had the gastric bypass.
