So I'm waiting to get approval for bypass and I'm kind of freaking out. I've been on line reading everything. It seems like a lot of work to eat right and get enough protien. Does it get easier the long out from surgery?? Also I don't see many people sharing about the loose skin. What's it really like? I'm ashamed of my fat body now will I be ashamed of my loose skin?? What's that really like? Has anyone had plastic surgey?? What was the pain like?? I don't now if I can do it.. But I'm living a horrable life now cause I'm fat and more health issues coming up every day. Please if anyone can share on these issues?? Is this normal to freak out??

Hi Jodi
You are completely normal to freak out!! It took me 6 years, from the first surgeon consult to my actual surgery, to take this step! I kept telling myself I could do it without surgery. But I just kept getting fatter and my health kept deteriorating.
I've had gastric banding so I can't tell you about bypass. But I can tell you what I've experienced.
I've had a great experience and looking back wish I had done this sooner. That said everyone takes their own time and you'll make the decision when you're ready. Surgery is not an easy decision but it was one that I needed to make. Weight loss surgery IS A LOT OF WORK!! It's not a quick fix or an easy solution! It takes a lot of work and changing everything about how your eat and plan your life. Surgery has forced me to do the things I should have done to be healthy a long time ago. Now there are no McDonald's or binging if I miss a meal!
Sure there are side affects and things I'll miss - pizza! But I am gaining so many things by loosing weight and finally being healthy!!
I am blogging my experience so please feel free to read along!

Good luck to you!

I'm 2 years out and have remained at my goal weight for over a year, and in my opintion, the seminar makes bariatric surgery sound scarier than it is. I had prepared myself for the worst - no sugar, no grease, no soda, no alcohol, etc. etc. and I think its been much easier than I expected in the long term. I went to a seminar 5 years ago, but decided to wait 3 years. I actually wish I would have done it then, because I wouldn't have hurt my knee and continued to put hard mileage on my knees from my weight, but the seminar I went to 5 years ago that wasn't from BluePoint made me feel like my life as I knew it would be ending. I really think the nerves disconnected from the stomach is very cool. I never feel "stomach hunger pains". If I get really busy at work, I can forget to eat something or put off lunch for 4, 5, 6 hours or longer. When that happens I start to get a little tired after 6 or 7 hours and that's how I know I have to eat. Good luck.
