Okay so I knew that it was a possibility. But never thought it would happen to me. I'm almost six months out, and my hair is falling out. No bald spots yet, though I am having nightmares about them. I've upped the protein and biotin. Admittedly, I have been slacking on protein and vitamins.

So now that I'm back on the straight and narrow - how long until this madness stops ? Is there anything else I can do ? Do the nioxin or biotin shampoos help ? Short hair cut ? Help!

  2. OH NO!!

I am 90 days out and starting to freak about this too! I am feel as if I am loosing more hair in the shower than normal. I've always been a "shedder" but I am feeling like I've been shedding more than normal. I do have a friend who did loose some hair (she too was neglecting vitamins and protein) but it did eventually grow back and it came back curly!

Let me know how it goes!

  3. I'm doing the same thing. I've noticed a LOT more loss in the shower each morning. I'm not eating any less protein or slacking on my shakes, so I wonder what it is??? Time to up the vitamins I suppose!

I am 7 months post-op. A couple months ago I started shedding hair like crazy. It freaked me out seriously. I got a pretty short haircut, and I am happy to report that the loss has slowed down seriously, and I think it's turning around now! When I talked to the nutritionist about it she said it is normal and would grow back in a couple months like normal. I highly recommend the short haircut though, as it made my hair feel much thicker and I didn't feel like such a freak. :) Also wasn't compelled to run my hands through my hair so much to notice all the hair coming out, and the sad thin pony-tail.
    You'll be ok!

So far so good! No hair loss at 4 months out. I have been taking 2000mg of Biotin since surgery and no less than 90g protein per day.

    Good Luck All:)

What brand of biotin do you all suggest, I swear I can't stand to swallow one more pill. And how in the world do you get in 90 gram of protein a day. I'm really doing something wrong.

    Hiya,Sweetie:

How are things going? Hope well:)
I use the CVS brand of Biotin-(2) 1,000mg pills per day and they are fairly small.

I get my 90 grams of protein with 2-3 Nectar shakes(46-69g. protein) and 3 meals per day.

The short hair cut really helps. It's not quite so dramatic now when I see the short hairs coming out. The long ones were nearly bringing me to tears. Just in case anyone else is looking for a short do to hide the hair loss, I thought my stylist did a great job. Heather @ Jazz It Up Salon in Woodbridge 703-878-7060.

I love nectar, I wish they sold it in the 5 lb pounds like they do with the milk based products. Which sites have you found to the be cheapest to purchase the Nectar? And thanks for the tip on the biotin, I will pick it up today.

Yes,it would be more convenient in a 5lb tub. I usually buy 2 at a time from Vitamin Shoppe.
I found they are only about $5 less online and then add shipping. Not such a big savings! Also, I like being able to hit the store locally.
