Hi, I am hoping to have my surgery by the end of June beginning of July. I have a soy allergy and I am finding it very hard to find vitamins and shakes that I will need to be successful with my diet. I can't do the optifast so I'm not sure yet what will happen. I was told not to eat rice, bread, and pasta for the next few weeks. I know I can do it, yes, it will be hard but I will do it. I am really looking forward to becoming healthy and not having the health problems that I ahve now. I guess I am looking for a good support group right now. I won't kid ya I am scared however, all the side effects that can happen are a walk in the park compared to what I have been going through these past years.

Welcome!
Congrats in taking a huge leap of faith and courage. The pre-op diet is great practice for the first couple of weeks after surgery.
The pre-op diet is so important to aid in shrinking your liver and a smooth surgery and recovery.I had a easy surgery and recovery and I think a big part was my 18lb lost pre-op. I had surgery on Tuesday, home Thursday and out shopping on Sunday.
I was lucky in not having many health problems, just sleep apnea-which has resolved itself post-op.
Complications are a possibility with any surgery but I personally rather go down fighting.Good Luck:)

Hi Tonya,
I am so glad to hear good news about your surgery. I hope mine goes as well. I have so many allergies that they are looking for shakes that I will have to make myself before and after surgery. How are you feeling now? Do you work? and if you do how long before you could go back to work? Thanks so much for taking the time to read and respond to my post.
Thanks,

Hi,Dori:
Thank you!I hope your surgery goes well too. For many people it's hard enough finding a shake they like. The added pain of your allergy sounds like a bit of a challenge. I hope you can get things squared away before surgery. Dr. Mo is my surgeon, who's yours? I love Dr. Mo and he has been wonderful!
I feel great!I will be 4 months out on tomorrow and down 80lbs:)
I was back to work a little over a week after surgery. I got through the day fine but was exhausted by 6.The first couple of months I was very low on energy and was in bed most nights by 8. My energy has soared since about the 3 month mark.Wishing you the best,

Hi Tonya,
Dr. Mo is my surgeon as well. I really like him. Wow, you must be so happy about the weight loss. I can't wait to have my surgery. I am scared but I am so excieted as well. You were really back to work within one week after surgery?? Wow, what kind of work do you do? I am a teacher for special needs students. I am so lucky to have the summer off so I can rest and get into a routine of exercise. Thanks Tonya,Dori :-)
