Gastri Banding 3-10-10

  1. I am having some anxiety about my upcoming banding. It's taken me a long time to get here. I first thought about WLS in 2004 - now 6 years later here I am.

I'd love to hear from anyone who is feeling or has felt as I do.

  2. Jen,

I had surgery almost a year ago. I am down 30 pounds. I no longer have high blood-pressure and I feel great! My wife had the surgery a month after me. She no longer has type 2 diabetes and also feels great. I put the surgery off for a long time. Best decision for our health we could have ever made.

My complete journey can be found on my website. Best wishes and congrats!

    Regards,

    Sully

  4. Hi Jen,
Take a look at my blog as well. I'm only a month ahead of you and so far I've lost 26lbs!!! 16 were with the Optifast. I had no problems with the Optifast. The first three days were the hardest, then I got used to being hungry. After that I was like Sully I had to schedule my drinks to get them all in. Make sure to get them all in, you will wake up HUNGRY if you don't.
    Best of luck,
    Shannon

  7. I just had my surgery two days ago. I have to say, I'm doing much better than I thought. I didn't have an appetite until tonight.. so tomorrow should be interesting!

The day before surgery I saw a woman on the Today Show who said she went to the weight loss seminars and then decided that she didn't want to take that route. I thought, "Is this a sign?" but you can't think like that. Everyone has to make the best choice for them and I believe this to be the best choice for me. I went to a couple of seminars before actually taking the step to have surgery. 5 more days and I'm onto "mushies"! woo hoo!

Just remember to build a great support system. Everyone in my system have been awesome.

  12. Jen, Just wanted to give you good thoughts for surgery! I know it's a couple days away. I hope you have the great nurses I did.

I'm now 2 weeks post-op and it really feels like I had surgery a couple months ago. It's so strange!

    Good vibes to you!
